Assistant/Associate

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics, Howard University College of
Medicine in Washington, DC is seeking to fill tenure-track faculty positions at
the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the fields of Cardiovascular
Physiology, Neurosciences/Biophysics and Endocrinology.
Respectively, the candidates should have a solid background in cellular and
molecular aspects of cardiomyopathies and heart failure, cognitive
neuroscience/membrane biophysics-patch clamp and reproductive/metabolic
endocrinology. A minimum of 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience is required.
For the position in cardiovascular physiology, expertise in cellular signalling
mechanisms mediating cardiac hypertrophy and/or heart failure through inotropic
peptides matched with a good publication record is preferred. In the
neurosciences, a background in visual motion physiology/self-motion perception/oculomotor
physiology and/or cell culture/slice preparation is desirable. For the
endocrinology position, focus on metabolic syndrome is preferred. Experience in
translational research is desired. The candidates are expected to lead
independently funded research programs that will integrate with on-going
departmental interests in the cardiovascular field, the neurosciences and
endocrinology. Start-up funds and initial salary compensation will be provided.
Teaching within the College of Medicine’s curricula will be required as needed

The Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Boston University School of

in Diabetes Research
Department of Physiological Sciences
Two faculty positions are immediately available at Eastern Virginia Medical
School (EVMS) to further strengthen its academic programs and expand and
integrate its Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Research Program. Areas of
interest include pancreatic beta cell biology and insulin/hormone signal
transduction. Primary academic appointments would be in the Department of
Physiological Sciences at the Assistant or Associate Professor
tenured/tenure-track level. The Department of Physiological Sciences is
comprised of three divisions: physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology; and
faculty have interests in cardiovascular, cell and reproductive biology. An
excellent collaborative environment of funded investigators in diabetes research
exists at EVMS with established programs in beta cell regeneration, immunology
of diabetes and atherosclerosis, and adipocyte biology and inflammation.

Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
The College of Medicine (COM) of the Pennsylvania State University invites
applications and nominations of outstanding candidates for the Chair of the
Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology. This department has had an
exceptional record of achievement and excellence. Since the COM was formed there
have been only 2 chairmen: Howard Morgan and Leonard Jefferson. These
distinguished scientists and the department have made numerous contributions to
our understanding of fundamental physiology issues. The department has nearly $9
million of extramural research support/year with more than $300,000 of grant
support per tenured faculty member. The new chair will be asked to build upon
this record of achievement by recruiting a cadre of talented scientists and by
expanding collaborations with other successful departments and institutes within
the COM and within the University. In addition to directing the research program
the new Chair will embrace the educational mission of the COM. This will include
playing a leadership role in educating superior medical and graduate students.
The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized scientist with a
record of leadership and experience in administrative, teaching and research
activities of an academic department or institute. The department is part of a
large, vibrant and fiscally stable academic health center within includes the
Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the NIH funded Penn State Clinical
and Translation Science Institute (CTSA award), the Penn State Heart and
Vascular Institute (PSHVI), and a new Cancer Institute building. For more
