2005 Fall Retreat Meeting

Agenda and Talks from Meeting

This year we are combining our fall meeting with the AAMC National Meeting of Basic Science Department Chairs (October 7 - 9 in Salt Lake City, Utah). Accordingly, the ACDP steering committee voted to have a reception on the evening of 10/5/1005 followed by a daylong session on 10/6/2005.

Our meeting will be held at the Marriot City Center, which is the same venue as the AAMC meeting. The rooms will be available at the AAMC rate for 3 days prior to and three days following the AAMC meeting therefore we will have the preferred rate on the 5th and 6th of October.

The ACDP meeting will be brief with an address on grant review by the new director, our own Toni Scarpa. I have also lined up Bill Mallon of the AAMC to speak to us about Basic Science compensation plans and their implications and impact on Faculty, universities and grant dollar availability. Dave Moore, the AAMC legislative analyst, has agreed to provide us with a legislative update. Finally, our President-Elect Rich Bergman will provide us with an update on the meeting that, according to rumor, he is planning for 2006 somewhere in Central or South America (I have heard rumors of Belize or Costa Rica).

Because of our truncated meeting schedule this year, the registration fee will be reduced accordingly to $100 for members, which should permit us to cover our reduced expenses. The ACDP registration form is attached. Deadline: Sept. 10.
